The wines of the Loir
Proud of its two AOCs Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir, Sarthe is a land of high standards and quality.
JASNIERES & COTEAUX DU LOIR
Land of vineyards par excellence, southern Sarthe is characterised by its gentle wooded hills planted with vines and the whiteness of its soft limestone: tufa. The two AOCs produced in southern Sarthe, Jasnières (white) and Coteaux du Loir (white, rosé, red), date from 1937 and 1948 respectively. Coteaux du Loir grows in 22 communes of Sarthe and Touraine, while Jasnières, more low-key, is found in the communes of Lhomme and Ruillé-sur-Loir.
